BioDes
BioDes is a precisely defined XML format for representing biographical information, based on the TEI standard.
The BioDes standard has been developed in the context of Biography Portal of the Netherlands - a website the collects biographic information from a large number of sources. The standard has been developed in cooperation with the 10 different partners in that project.
BioDes takes the TEI P5 Guidelines (Text Encoding Initiative, http://www.tei-c.org/Guidelines/P5/) as its point of departure. TEI is an international standard for annotating texts, and contains a number of elements that are specifically intened for annotating biographical information.
